[KCS 2026] SPECTROLIGHT Fluorescence Imaging Live Demonstration

2026-10-16 10:54:42

SPECTROLIGHT, the optical instrumentation brand of iiSM Inc., will jointly exhibit with KOS at the 138th General Meeting & Exhibition of the Korean Chemical Society (KCS 2026), held at the Suwon Convention Center in South Korea.

At this exhibition, we will showcase an integrated fluorescence imaging system combining the SL-Pico Supercontinuum Laser and FWS-Poly Tunable Bandpass Filters (Poly-RED and Poly-BLUE).
The live demonstration will feature fluorescence imaging of labeled cell samples, highlighting the benefits of precise wavelength and bandwidth selection for fluorescence microscopy.

ㅣWhy Wavelength Control Matters in Fluorescence Imaging

In fluorescence microscopy, selecting the appropriate excitation and emission wavelengths is essential for detecting fluorescence signals from labeled samples.
Different fluorophores have distinct excitation and emission spectra, and fixed-wavelength configurations may not always provide the flexibility needed for different experimental conditions.

By adjusting the excitation wavelength and bandwidth to match the spectral characteristics of a fluorophore, researchers can optimize fluorescence excitation. Selecting the appropriate emission wavelength range can also help reduce unwanted background signals and spectral overlap, supporting improved image contrast and more selective fluorescence detection.
SPECTROLIGHT enables researchers to adjust these wavelength conditions without relying on multiple fixed-wavelength filter configurations.

ㅣLive Demonstration: Tunable Excitation & Emission Wavelength Selection

The demonstration integrates SPECTROLIGHT's broadband laser source and software-controlled tunable bandpass filters into a fluorescence imaging system.

The setup includes:

-SL-Pico Supercontinuum Laser: Provides broadband illumination for flexible excitation wavelength selection.
-FWS-Poly (Poly-RED): Enables adjustable center wavelength (CWL) and bandwidth (FWHM) for excitation light control.
-FWS-Poly (Poly-BLUE): Provides tunable center wavelength selection with a fixed bandwidth for fluorescence emission filtering.
-Imaging Camera: Captures fluorescence images of labeled cell samples.

The FWS-Poly series incorporates SPECTROLIGHT's patented TwinFilm technology, enabling software-controlled wavelength selection in 1 nm steps.

Broadband Light → Excitation Wavelength & Bandwidth Selection → Fluorescently Labeled Cells → Emission Wavelength Selection → Fluorescence Imaging

By changing the selected wavelength conditions, visitors can explore how excitation and emission settings influence fluorescence image acquisition.

ㅣFlexible Optical Solutions for Fluorescence Microscopy

Combining a broadband light source with tunable filters provides greater flexibility when working with different fluorescent labels and experimental requirements.
This approach can support:

-Fluorophore-Specific Excitation: Select wavelength conditions suited to different fluorescent labels.
-Improved Signal Selectivity: Optimize spectral filtering to help reduce background and unwanted fluorescence signals.
-Multi-Wavelength Imaging: Explore different excitation and emission bands within a single configurable optical setup.
-Custom Microscope Integration: Adapt optical components and wavelength control to specific research applications.

Beyond individual optical instruments, SPECTROLIGHT and iiSM Inc. support customized optical system configurations and integration with existing research equipment.
