The Mighty Light broadband white light source from Spectrolight (Irvine, CA) is based on a high-power tungsten-halogen lamp, enabling its use in microscopy, among other illumination applications. With a nominal color temperature of 2900 K, the light source provides over 2 W of low-noise (~0.5%), white-light output that spans the visible through near-infrared spectral regions (400 nm ~ 2.5 µm). The package, which includes the lamp, power supply, and low-noise control board, measures 125 × 75 × 70 mm. Its aluminum housing is convection cooled, eliminating the need for cooling fans or water cooling.
